Inclusive communication

Our language influences our thinking and our thinking influences our actions. Inclusive communication recognizes that the society in which we live is permeated by discriminatory structures that are also reflected in linguistic patterns. We need to pay attention to these in order to counteract them.

Inclusive communication means thinking along with as many people as possible and excluding as few people as possible through our own language. The aim here is to counteract various forms of discrimination: racism (and its various forms), gender-based discrimination, ableism (discrimination against disabled and neurodivergent people) and other levels and forms of discrimination.

It is important to engage with inclusive communication, as our language and our thinking are shaped by subtle patterns that can be discriminatory or reproduce discrimination if we do not actively address them.
