Inclusive communication

Our language influences our thinking and our thinking influences our actions. Inclusive communication recognizes that the society we live in is permeated by discriminatory structures that are also reflected in linguistic patterns. We need to pay attention to these in order to counteract them.

Inclusive communication means including as many people as possible and excluding as few people as possible through one's own language. Here it is important to counteract different forms of discrimination: racism (and its different manifestations), gender-based discrimination, Ableism (discrimination against disabled and neurodiverse people) and other levels and forms of discrimination.

Addressing inclusive communication is important because our language and thinking are shaped by subtle patterns that can be discriminatory or reproduce discrimination if we do not actively address them.
